Import SIMS Timetable to Outlook Calendar

Does anybody know of a way to import staff timetables from SIMS to their Outlook calendars?

 

Capita say it's not possible but I was going to try exporting to Excel then converting to CSV for import.

Not tested, but it prompted me to look around again since nothing has come out of the first project.

We are currently trialing a piece of software called Academic Calendar which has SIMS integration. I believe it's only in BETA at the moment but we are using it. Might be worth getting in contact with them.

Never used Sims but I have an Access database that combines a table of dates with a two week timetable. You then export to Excel and on to Gmail, Outlook or whatever. Happy to share if it's any use.

Be interested to hear how this goes. Found this software a while back, and i think it's one of the other threads, but didn't see enough need for it at the time. It's relatively cheap for a site licence so sync to SIMS would be good. Wonder if they sync to other MIS or can they take a standard input?

 

There is a thread here where someone sorts it out manually.

 

I believe that SalamanderSoft can do a sync to SIMS as well and keep it up to date.

 

My concerns are always that the timetable can change a lot over the year, and it doesn't take account of ad hoc changes like Cover or trips etc. So using the built in MIS calendar has some advantages.

I use software called salamander. It's awesome. Offers far more than timetables. I'm proud to say that I have implemented this and it really is awesome. Their support is second to none too. Well worth a look. Gone are the days of manually managing users in ad.

Salamander can sync the cover too, i have it to run in the morning and then just before lunch.

 

Teachers timetables are updated each night.

Same here, the job runs at various intervals. If you was concerned about cover changed you could tell it to run every ten mins if you wanted. There is very little going on in terms of resources. We have saved on printing by setting up exchange active sync on cover sup devices. In a nutshell, it just works
