I have some new members of teaching staff who have asked

(1) is there any easy way to tell from their timelines whether they have taken the register for a class or not?

(2) is there an easy way to check whether they have any outstanding registers (not just for the current day)?

Have gone through all of the Lesson Monitor documentation but couldn't find the answer! Hoping someone can answer this easily :)

Not really.

If they had a sense of humour i'd tell them to double click the register on the timeline. That will show them if it's done or not!

There is a missing registers panel for the homepage, but it's for all registers, so it's normally someone in admin that uses it. It can tell you when a register is overdue by x mins past start time. Someone should be using that and sending messages through it, when they aren't done.

So if you were feeling nice, you could monitor them, and while you're at it, all the other staff ;)

At BETT, Capita showed their ipad app after a blogging seminar, and one of the suggestions was to have a reminder to take the register, and even an option to stop you proceeding with any other task until you had done it. This was met with general approval, but whether it makes it into the product or not and whether you have the product or not is a different matter altogether.

From a reporting point of view, Lesson Monitor / Attendance submenu and then Whole Group | Today's register report would help for morning reg, but i'm hoping that is chased up. Also under Module reports | registers with missing marks - may help but would show all teachers / classes but may be a pain to filter out only them. A Ctrl+F search may work though.

Oh. Really?

We do have a member of SLT who runs the missing registers report but teachers were hoping there was a quick way of checking they hadn't missed any before they are pulled up by "The Management". I will take a look at the module reports though - you can order by teacher so it could be rather useful for them.

Thanks for your help as always.

I can't outdo @vikpaw 's comprehensive response, but can add that the Missing Registers Notification on the Home Page is sortable by teacher name, so it is easy enough to use to see if they have missed a register.

Ideally they should be taking the register first thing in the lesson. I can't understand how people forget to take them when they should be the very first task just to know who is and isn't there. :/

Can't the missing registers widget send a SIMS message to all users who haven't completed the register? If everybody has the Messages widget on their SIMS desktop it will show outstanding registers just for them.
