Bradlys Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What exactly is Tough Mudder? Fighting in the Mud?
featured_spectre Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Its an obstacle course over a set distance. It isn't for the faint hearted, as you can break bones (my friend snapped his ankle). I am signing up for the spartan race myself

Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Yeah the worst obstacles for me were "Arctic Enema" which is where you jump into a massive skip of ice water and have to go under some tyres and "Electroshock Therapy" where you run through a load of live wires... I got shocked 5 times on my back... it was not nice!

I'm so unhealthy ;_; though I am starting to do light 20min workouts at home in an attempt to start changing that. Edited September 15, 2014 by Garacesh
Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Hahahahah... that ice does get EVERYWHERE. This is the fittest I've ever been. I was rather unfit at the beginning of the year. You gotta start somewhere. Good work. Keep it up
nyiss Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Well done!! I'm desperate to do this it looks amazing. I think we need an Edugeek team running this next year

Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 I've decided already that I'm never doing it again... but peer pressure could overcome me. I'd do the one in skipton next time though. The north west was too far from me. 70 miles!
Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Yeah, I do need to get myself to the gym or something but I'm way too self-conscious for that. Yeah that's something that is difficult to overcome. I wouldn't have been able to do this without all the help from my personal trainer though. When you feel like you've done all you can at home, just sign up to a gym you feel comfortable in, go and visit a few. More often than not they will let you have a free session. 1
Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Very well done. Next up : Tough Guy? awwww HELL NAWWWW.
featured_spectre Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Spartan Race United Kingdom – Obstacle Course Races for the United Kingdom
Garacesh Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Very well done. Next up : Tough Guy? The race, and its summer equivalent, has suffered two fatalities during its history. The organizers claim that running the course involves risking barbed wire, cuts, scrapes, burns, dehydration, hypothermia, acrophobia, claustrophobia, electric shocks, sprains, twists, joint dislocation and broken bones. Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 looks good. It was all the running that has done me in today. Obstacles were challenging, but not too challenging (I really don't want to say easy!!!) The spartan sprint would probably suit me to a tee. Cram in all the obstacles!! [should mention I'm on about the Spartan Race here!!!!]

Oaktech Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The race, and its summer equivalent, has suffered two fatalities during its history. The London Marathon claims about 1 a year and no-one bats an eyelid at that...
featured_spectre Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 London Marathon causes more heart attacks than any other UK based sporting event. Other marathons across the globe cause more fatalities also.

You'd think people would be sensible enough to realise when they're not doing so good and bow out.
pcstru Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Really? Did not know that. You'd think people would be sensible enough to realise when they're not doing so good and bow out. I'm not sure that sensible and running 26 miles on a Sunday are things that should ever be in the same sentence. Well, unless accompanied by the word 'not'! 2
featured_spectre Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Many people train for years before doing a marathon however, many people dont and just do it. It is the ones that don't train that fall out and quit, but the ones that do are more likely to have a heart attack as bad as that is, due to severe over exertion.
Joanne Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 I could only just do 11.6 miles... definitely couldn't run 26. I was not built for running!!
sippo Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Did mine in August. Have another one booked in for end of October. Not as hard as I though it was going to be. Aiming for 2 and half hours next time. Have my obligatory tattoo as well!
