Reset Local Admin Password

Hello,

 

I have a Windows 7 Pro laptop that has been taken off the domain.

 

However, I cannot login to the laptop using the local administrator account as I don't know the local admin password.

 

Is there anyway I can reset this password?

 

I want to put the laptop back on the domain.

Try the Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor.

 

KonBoot or Microsoft's DaRT would also be able to reset the password, but neither are free.

there are various linux boot cd's which will do this for you, in the past i have used a couple.

one thing i have found is dont set a blank password when changing it as i have run into problems when doing this.

This one is good and only needs the windows setup DVD. It replaces the sticky keys program with command prompt allowing you to use 'Net User' to reset passwords.
