Offline files and username changes

If someone has a laptop where their domain user account is synced with offline files so they can login at home, what happens when their username is changed? Does offline files log them in with the new change the next time they come in and keep everything seamless? Or does it break the offline login in any way?

 

I've got to change a whole load of usernames (Not that we want to....) and some of those have laptops synced with offline files on their current usernames.

I've had to do this for one member of staff who changed their name, and everything was fine. We did the username change at school, made sure the laptop picked up the change and allowed her to logon and all was good! Her documents appeared as normal at school and at home.

Test with one first though as this was on XP.
