nicholab Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) How do I set up an user to be used for exporting data to a VLE what permission does it need? Funny I don't want to just hand all my details over to the VLE provider. Edited September 10, 2014 by nicholab
GREED Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Does the VLE integration not extract only the specific information you require/it requires? If you limit that by MIS permissions will that not also break the integration? Just a couple of thoughts of you.
nicholab Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Yes it should only take out the information required. I just want to create a data extraction user rather than using the master account.

Sensible. I'm suggesting the permissions will need to mirror the data the integration is extracting to avoid problems, but ignore me if I am stating the obvious.
matt40k Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I'd assume he's just trying to check it's not another "oh look they want to added to system manager group" scenerio like you get with SIMS and their partners.
PhilNeal Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 @matt40k Capita does not encourage TPs to get above their authority level!
matt40k Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 @matt40k Capita does not encourage TPs to get above their authority level! Agreed, was just saying that it happens, didn't mean to infer your ever support such barbaric act. Still find it odd that no-one has embraced the import\export of security groups and even odder that none of your gold partners (or whatever you call them), haven't asked them to be included out-of-the-box so it is standardized. Still in the list of things that I found odd to today that is pretty low on the list.
mikecampbell Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You've probably figured it out already, but for completeness I understand that you need to do: Modules > eSetup > Security > System Users. Then grant the user the "third party" permission only.
