thank you ive resolved that issue but when i get to the next screen it asks me for the password for the root user, however if i put a password into the myphpadmin root user, it locks me out

You may have solved this by now but to solve the password issue you need to go into the xampp server click on config next to apache then open phpMyAdmin (config.php.ini) scroll to the right and you will see ['user']:root then ['password'] :** all you need to do is add the password (within the asterix) you set when you initially set it up on the admin page. hi guys i'm looking at starting to use xibo and i'm stuck at the web server part how does anyone else manage or do i not need this

+1 for Xibo too, we've currently got 3 screens running on it and another being added over Christmas,

 

I happened to have my own personal webspace that I use for blogging, so I'm running the school Xibo server on that for the time being. I looked at doing a localhost setup, but that really didn't suit as I wanted to move away from having to physically go to the computer each time I wanted to change the displays.

 

I'm now looking at either an internal server in the school for it, or buying a domain to host Xibo. If I go down that route I'm planning to make it available to others for free/a couple of pounds a year to help cover hosting costs.

At one of the primary school's we support, we just installed Vodigi, which is free. At our place we use DSign, a lot more features and looks very nice, however it's a paid for solution.
