Recommend me a small footprint eco printer for classroom use

I'm looking for a decent throughput yet eco friendly network printer to put in a classroom that's a tad remote from the main print facility. I have gone for Samsung Lasers in the recent past but they don't seem very teacher proof. At the SWGfL Conference in July the Epson people were demoing kit that looked pretty good value but I've had a tidy up since and can't find contact details any longer!

We have a round 5 of these and there is a nifty Epson interface to manage them with, not had any problems so far and had a couple of them around 2 years now, easy to install and cheap to run, both network and usb.

Agreed. We've supplied Workforce Pro 4050 and 4150 series and they re very good and economical.

 

We've been replacing colour lasers in some schools with them.

We've also used compact Samsung lasers in the past - purely for the footprint. They're not cheap though and on the old clp310/320 models the paper tray didn't like been breathed on - it would cause issues.

Yes, I have over the past couple of years tended toward Samsung with several 620 and 680 machines. Unfortunately they aren't that popular with teaching staff.

 

I saw a demo of the Epson non laser at the South a west Regional Conference at Bristol in July and it seemed a good alternative.

You after mono or colour? Sharp have just launched a new device that a desktop printer effectively but can integrate into print management solutions but maintain that small size.

Hi bossman,

 

Just wondered how you are getting on with the Epson Workforce Pro printers. Do you use original ink or compatibles?

 

I am looking into replacing some ageing HP Business Inkjets - but am having problems finding something as cost effective and reliable!

They are doing great - we use original inks. I always will. Seen too many printer fail with compatibles.

 

Just installing 2 new Wf-5110's as we speak. One is DOA though!

Using genuine toners and no problems as yet after a couple of years now
