Passcodes?

So we've got a trolley of iPads going out to pupils, the only problem is, there seems to be no way of restricting the set password feature?

 

How has everybody else worked around this, because as soon as a pupil sets a password, we then have to format the iPad again!

 

 

The obvious would be to ask staff to record who uses each iPad, but it's highly unlikely this procedure will be followed...

Correct. This is exactly why I'm digging my heels in here against iPads as I see this as a major issue to the shared use of iPads.

Do you use an MDM at all? We can remotely remove passcodes from our iPads using ours.

I'd be interested to hear if there is a way of doing this. We use Meraki and as far as I can see there is no way to remove the option to add a passcode? We can set a passcode but not completely remove them.

There is no way to remove the option to set a passcode.

 

However! If they are supervised devices; simply plugging the iPad into Apple Configurator will remove the passcode for you. Or else you can use an MDM to remove the passcode. We did experience some issues with that method though, in that if the device loses Wi-Fi then of course the MDM is useless.

 

Apple Config has been fine though. This also has the added benefit of being able to configurer iPads en masse!
