Name Resolution for Users

Hello,

I'm having some peculiar problems with name resolution in AD/Quota.

 

It seems a lot of the names are showing up as shown on the image attached:

 

 

The same appears on NTFS permission setting, therefore I don't know who is who?

 

Any reason why this is happening or anyone know a solution?

Maybe the users have been deleted. If a user is deleted and has ACL with them as a direct user this will happen, it will leave their AD account SID and won't be able to resolve to a active AD account.

 

Depending on how many folders you are talking about you could see how many people should be in the home shared folder to how many folders there are this will give you a rough idea of how many folders are effected.

 

You could either take ownership of the folders or remove the folders if you are sure the people are left and have a backup of the folder just in case.
