studio Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Hi, I've got no idea if this can even be done, nevermind how, but our LA have renamed SEN to SEND - and I'm wondering if there's a way to do this in SIMS so that on Marksheets, etc. is says SEND instead of SEN. Thanks
PhilNeal Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 The change from SEN to SEND affects all schools in England. The DfE have only just finalised the new regulations with consequent changes in processes; there are still a few uncertainties. From Sept new assessments have to be under the new rules but existing SEN arrangements continue for a period. The SIMS summer release brings in new codes etc. but we haven't changed the labels. With the right permissions it is possible to click on labels and rename the descriptors. In spring we will bring in a set of enhanced processes to help schools and at that point we will change the labels. 1
GREED Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Tipex? Phil, does this mean that SEND under the new banner is live from September?
PhilNeal Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Not quite sure what you mean. New SEND codes are available in the summer release. You will still need access to old SEN codes for existing arrangements. Our labels change next spring.
GREED Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I mean is the government calling it SEND and all documentation refers to it as such from September? From your comment I would say that is the case as all new cases follow the new SEND codes.
PhilNeal Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Yes the English government is now calling it SEND where "D" is disability. Some conditions are no longer classified as special needs.
