MrRobo Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Hi there, when I try to write on my Smartboard, multiple lines come out in random directions from where the pen is touching the screen (you can't read the words that are being written). I have tried re-orienting and have ensured all the cables are plugged in correctly. Any ideas of what to do next?
ninjashadow Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Do you know if the board has had a hard impact over the last little while? that makes me think that the board is damaged. The board is detecting multiple inputs. I may however be totally wrong in this matter. Let me know. D
hardtailstar Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 This happened on some of our Activ boards, we found when we upgraded the software from ActivStudio to ActivInspire that this solved it. Not sure if this was a Promethean trick or just generally a problem with the older software. so updating/upgrading may fix it? Software reinstall also?
Grey-gear Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I agree with @hardtailstar, try a software update and a firmware update. If it still continues try get a laptop or another computer and see if it has the same results.
Avited_Lisa Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 If the firmware and software upgrades don't work, a trick is to get a store card you don't use anymore and run that around the edges of the interactive area of the board as sometimes they stick. Sadly if both that and the upgrade do not work it is likely the board is damaged. We found last year that a lot of the 500 series boards (black edges) had the membrane in the middle shrink due to the warm summer
peterp Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 We had this on one of our boards. Turned out there was a halogen light with a dodgy connection the other side of the wall, and it's arcing was creating RF interference that affected the board.
bald_pig Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 We've had similar issues from USB cables getting a bit dodgy, have you tried using a different cable?
