Getting a bit fed up of our ageing netgear hardware (5 years old +) and getting nowhere with vlans, too many different versions and firmware versions causing me issues (that or I'm just rubbish :) )

So what is are the HP equivalents of the gs724T and the gs724AT ? I'm also considering consolidating some of the switches into 48 port versions to free up some cab space, I will also need gbics to suit (unless the netgear ones are suitable)

Also I will need a HP layer 3 switch that can do routing, cheapest possible.

Unlikely, our HP switches are very fussy about the GBICs and SFP+ copper cables that they take.

J9848b or c GBICs are suitable for 1Gb uplinks to V series switches, many suppliers can do good deals on them. Edited by 3s-gtech

Don't bother with the v series, go for the e series with lifetime warranty and non-crippled rebranded 3Com software in them.

Are you looking at doing 10gbit ever? if so you'd be better with the 2910al for edge which can do layer three and take 10gb modules.

Doubt we will ever do 10gb, 10gb uplinks would be nice though. Any particular models of E series to recommend ? HP seem to have a bewildering array of models
