mike86 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Hi All, I've been asked to do an inventory of all of our printers on site, the school is pretty big & walking round every room will take an eternity so i'm looking for recommendations of any software that will scan the network for USB printers? If you know of anything please let me know, google isn't doing much for me this morning. Thanks M
MatthewL Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Do a walk around, trust me people unplug printers so they cannot be found and hide them in all sorts of wierd and wonderful places. I've got an eye for print audits and where ones are hidden, found 10 once before that no one else had spotted!
Norphy Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Lansweeper It's the daddy. Or if you're using SCCM, that will inventory PCs and you'll be able to run a report.
MatthewL Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I believe ManageEngine does it through its helpdesk software and client that is deployed to the PC too.
mike86 Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Cheers guys, found a report for spiceworks that did the trick.
rad Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 but this wont work with usb printers or those powered off
mike86 Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Yep did the trick for usb and network printers. I've installed the report to spiceworks but can dig out if you need.
