Active Directory Tidy up ( problems)

Quick question before I do something dumb.

 

In AD at the moment I have

 

So All the staff are in the Staff Users OU

I have some users in the Student Intakes and the rest in users. ( seams a bit mixed up)

 

What I want to do is move the students in to the student intake folder and with in there make a OU that will be called leavers 2015 etc.

 

Will what I'm proposing to do cause any problems?

OK, make an OU called Students

 

Then sub OUs called Students 10/11, Students 11/12, Students 12/13, Students 13/14 etc (for whatever years you have). Split them into that. Use the Student Intake for the sims import, then move them all to a new folder (or rename that folder for the new students).

 

This was how I operated, that way when the students left, I changed it to leavers 10/11, and then kept their stuff for a year (some high schools wanted previous work for some students) before removing it all.

 

This way it is all kept streamlined and efficient, you know who is there, who is leaving, and can go from there.

What you are doing shouldn't cause an issue but you may want to have some sort of structure going.

Shouldn't do, just watch your GPO's

Just looked through the GPO's and they are either related to computers, specific groups that I have made or Authenticated users ( in the security filtering)

 

In the location at the top everything is set to school.local except

My set Keyboards to UK GPO that says:

School.local

Staff users

Student Intakes

 

Just trying to get everything nice and tidy now
