Over the last few days we have had numerous requests from various departments in our school to play music cds/mp3s over our network.

Now we currently have a no license for Public Performances of music from CDs/MP3s

How are you guys managing this?

We have recently setup audio equipment in our dining rooms for pupils to listen to background music

our understanding is we need a PPL (Public Performance licence) for this to be legal?.

We purchase a combined licence from our LEA which includes a PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited) - This licence allows schools the use of copyright sound recordings on school premises for extra - curricular use.
