nicholab Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) Bit disappointed but we are having chassis switches fitted as part of a summer project. How do you stop them turning into a jumbled mess of spaghetti? Also the company doing the work are not providing a patching schedule. Edited July 17, 2014 by nicholab
FN-GM Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Put them in a cabinet with proper cable management. Really thats the only want to keep the nice and tidy.
nicholab Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 I had them like that but it was always a pain to remove a patch lead as it had platted itself into the rest. Also tracing a cable takes so much effort.
plexer Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 You don't need to trace cables as long as you have recorded what goes where in the first place and record any changes. Ben
webman Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Good cable management and cable tidy accessories, and cables of suitable length - not too short and not too long.
nicholab Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 We are not getting patching schedules so how do you record it?
jamesreedersmith Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 should have specified a schedule as part of the project - if not give them a spreadsheet with switch port in one column and outlet in column 2 and device in column 3 and get them to fill it in as they go!
Marshall_IT Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Label all the cables and don't use tie wraps, use Velcro straps.
