hi all, as title suggest, the SimsCentralServerSetup upgrade runs every time on a new pc we have put sims onto, it only runs for a few seconds (after clicking past the security prompt) before displaying the login screen., anyone know a fix for this? (we've had support on installation the past two days, this is only something very trivial, and more of an annoyance than an issue....)

sql2005/2008 installed and running for Sims/FMS

Hi Tesla,

This could be down to permissions on the folder specified in the SIMSDirectory line of the workstation's SIMS.ini.

We had this a while ago with one of our schools where the users did not have permission to this shared area.

Hope this helps,

Mark

We've never had an S Drive, it's all on our K drive (sims setups etc).... so do you think that that central server app is trying to connect to the S drive???

weird, ran SimsINST again, it tried to install some 16-bit workstation, and froze, so i cancelled it, and when i ran SIMS it ran without the server prompt, so it seems fixed... bizarre
