The Greens are the only party I will (and do) vote for when I get the chance - i.e. European elections, which are also PR so I know my vote is actually counted. Any other time, I always spoil my ballot paper.

My problem with the Greens (apart from no candidates in Lincolnshire) is that they don't support nuclear power, which forces us into a continued reliance on fossil fuels and all in all seems to be a short-sighted policy doing more harm than good right now. Nuclear fission isn't perfect, but it's a more pragmatic choice than anything else capable of meeting our energy needs right now. Wind is too unreliable, wave and geothermal don't work in the UK, and solar isn't efficient enough yet, and the manufacturing process does so much harm it cancels out all the good anyway.

 

There's also rumblings of institutional anti-Semitism, although as far as I'm concerned that's not much different from all the other discrimination going on throughout politics.

 

Anyway, none of this actually matters to me, because the Conservatives could put a dead duck up for election in this county and still get the seat. I'd probably get more response from a dead duck than Sir Peter Tapsell, actually. As I said in another thread recently, all he needs to do to keep his seat is eat, breathe and poop, and some days it seems that's all he does.

Labour will kill your aunts

Cons will kill your uncles

Lib Dems will kill your cousins

Everyone else will say they won't but realistically they would have no choice.

I vote locally - that is, I chose the best local MP - she's a Lib Dem as it happens and has been in for quite a long time. She is brilliant for both local and national issues affecting us.

As for the new Education Minister - what bothers me is that Cameron cant think either education, women's issues or equality are very important if he thinks one person can oversee them all.
