By which time the likes of Windows 9 and 10 will be around, so I wouldn't worry about it too much!

And you'll all be bleating on about how much better Windows 8 was :p

I hope not, but no doubt I'll have something to pick on with Windows 9! :D I'm sure Microsoft are learning every minute with Windows 8 - plus they'll break their trend of good OS bad OS if they get Windows 9 wrong! :)

Windows 8.1's more polished, but I still think it falls short of the mark. Windows 8's very comparable with Vista Gold (in my opinion), but life goes on!

Microsoft Windows 7 mainstream Support to End January 2015 but extended support runs through to 2020 so there's nothing to panic about. Carry on about your business. Nothing to see here.

I've corrected that for you. ;)

So got another 5 years of use before you have to fork out another £100 or more for Windows 9 / 10 or which ever Windows OS you want ?

If you're talking about licensing Windows for your computers in school, and you're paying £100 per device to do it, we should talk because you're doing it wrong! :)

My school gets Windows for £0.00 (if you don't count the EES subscription). ;)

Not sure where you're looking, but Windows 8.1 is £69 on Scan's website.
