So the competitive element I've added to this by having Fitfit friends has definitely boosted the motivation but also destroyed my poor legs!

Does it just compare your steps, or compares pretty much any activity?

Still completely obsessed with my Fitbit. Lost 4lbs last week (probably a little too much, I don't really have that much weight to lose) as I stepped up my target to 15k and kept an eye on what I was eating. Made a real difference that my family were on holiday so I was in complete control of what I was eating as well as doing all the cleaning etc. after work.

Well done!

A group of friends and I are planning a couple of walks towards the end of this summer - 1st is our take on the "Surrey 3 Peaks" which I think will end up being about 35+km. We're also looking at Snowdon too! I'll make sure my phone is charged on both of these to get a decent idea of steps! (Can't splash out on anything at the mo! :( Just signed contracts for our house so it's getting closer! :D )

I'm thinking of giving the couch to 5k a bash - does the fitbit know when you're running as opposed to just counting steps?

Thank you! Had it a month now and Friday was the first time I looked at my tummy and felt as though it's starting to look flat(ish) for the first time in about 18 months. So good to finally be seeing some results. If you'd have told me a month and a half ago that I'd been exercising daily and emailing people about local running groups I'd have wet myself laughing.

The fitbit will count running as an "active minute" or a "very active minute" but you can also record it as a separate exercise activity altogether if you prefer. I was doing that originally but found that it confused my Fitbit and it would then flick between two different step numbers etc. and it wound me up so now I just let it count them as steps/active minutes.

I've got the Polar Loop and although enjoying tracking just how little i do some days the charging every 3/4 days is really starting to annoy me. It can link up to a heart monitor which is why i got it for when i finally get back to the gym and cycling but think i may try the MisFit Shine next as i want it to be able to be my watch as well as track activity.

I'm looking forward to Fitbit bringing out a new version of the Force. It had to be recalled because it was giving people nasty rashes (eeep) - I think that has step incline, watch etc. built in as well.
