Licencing for Adobe creative suite what are the options and the costs?

 

I wanted to know if Adobe have finally sorted out their EES option.

Still *massively* expensive, can't imagine it's worth it for a school still. We're still on CS5 as a result and intend to stay that way for the forseeable.

With EEA, it's about £2.50 per FTE per month, although the price really depends upon how many FTEs you have.

That's a bit less than I remember, but that still works out at just under £6k PA for us. That's *ridiculous*.

iirc a site license for CS6 (500 hundred seats) was north of 6K 2 years ago

That would last you - well, it's permanent. Therefore not comparable, 6k a year is a LOT.

Just so you're aware, on the Adobe EEA agreement it states that you have to count everyone who works over 200 hours per year and can exclude non knowledge workers. There isn't a definition in the agreement of what they class as part-time, unlike MS EES, but does allow you to divide by 3 for part-time faculty staff and divide by 2 for other part-time staff in the staff count. indeed 6K a year is bonkers even if it was heavily used.

no wonder people look for cheaper alternatives.

I too looked at this after they changed it to per workstation over per user and came up at about £5000 pa just for our art department. On the other hand, the complete Serif suite cost us about £2000 for the site as a one off.

My previous post is probably a bit unclear, from the Adobe guidelines you count any staff working at least 200 hours per year, there is no definition of what Adobe mean by part-time, so using the uk gov definition that is anyone working less than 35 hours per week. As you divide part-time faculty staff by 3 and part-time non faculty staff by 2 and can also exclude non information workers (cleaners etc), you may find that the Adobe EEA works out cheaper than you think

We just looked into upgrading from CS4 master and its a no go due to $7k a year leased licence .....we paid $12k to own CS4 and have had for 5 years so adobe this is cheaper how?

We've just managed to get CS6 in and will stick with that for a few years. CS4 we brought 5 years ago and has done us well so we're hoping CS6 does us the same period. Would like to see adobe commit to to education like autodesk but CC is just too expensive for schools.
