It's time again to review my WiFi. I have an old as heck system Dlink DWL-3200APs 54G parts 7 years+ BUT it's super reliable. Anyhow I can afford to even bodge a cheapo Unifi system with the pro APs at £4000 So I'm looking at making a mixed environment. I only need the pros in most used areas, I can stick the much cheaper 24V UAPs in areas like the gym. This means I can do most of the school for a laughable £1200!

 

I know these can't compete with a awesome Ruckus system but that costs over £8000 (I've had 2 site surveys)

 

Does anyone see a problem mixing the UniFi APs PRo/non-pro versions. Maybe an AC for the office

I haven't done a mixed system myself (well, beyond 17 Pros + 3 AC), but its well known to work perfectly fine. Here's a link to an american school, which has a big mixture of APs:

How many APs do you need for coverage?

Will be no problems mixing. We're finding them awesome, super reliable and just work. The funny thing is, it might not be as complicated as Ruckus but I'd certainly say it competes. *Obliterates* for ease of management in fact.

27 APs we have a few remote areas and buildings. The main site is spread out and the main building is 1960s concrete and rebar! WiFi killer...
