So we have 66 printers install at our institution running paper cut. We finally got everything upgraded and pushed the PP client via GPO and manually did the macs.

Finally everything seems to be working great, there was an issue with the firmware on the toshibas needing to be upgraded to 2001J to clear and ODCA error.

Anyway... all the "devices" say started... yet the virtual printer says In Error.

I can't find any log or anything of why it is in error...

Any ideas?

When that happens here - it is usually just one or two jobs that have an error in the virtual print queue. It generally doesn't stop other people from printing.

If you open the virtual queue you should just be able to clear the job with the error and the message should clear.

under the FollowMe-VirtualQueue under printers and Job Logs, there is a bout 7 pages of jobs which have been cancelled? I sorted by status but I only see canceled jobs, nothing with error...

Are you looking in Papercut or in the virtual queue itself? To find the jobs in error you need to look in the virtual queue through your control panel - devices and printers. Right click the virtual printer and then select 'see whats printing' - something in there should have an error next to it.

Papercut will only show you the cancelled jobs in the virtual queue because if they were successful they will appear in the queue for the printer that actually printed them - if that makes sense...

excellent!

Thanks!

Do you use paper cut a lot?

We can't seem to find a way to automatically assign shared accounts to users. We did the batch import, but we'd like a way that if the user only has 1 account associated with their user name, that account would auto populate on the copy/scan/fax section of the printer (also under the user account in Use this shared account by default).

Seems like its only a manual entry from the web interface, and that would take days with 7k users.

Great glad it worked!

I have been using it for a while but I wouldn't say I used it a lot - unfortunately I do the account changes manually so can't help with that one - if you find a way let me know!

yea importing the accounts initially can be done by a .csv, but setting a default cannot.

Do you do any faxing?

We have the Fax print queue setup, and it works, but the transmission report prints outo n the device that faxes and we really want it to just email the user.

I think that would be something you set on the printer. PaperCut monitors printing, it doesn't really handle where to send faxes and such.
