Has anyone done this? Will kaltura be able to handle fusion rv xml files that are uploaded to an ftp from the fusion rv box?

So Im wondering what the proper approach is to share a network drive in remote app so that applications can see it. basically user launch access and when they browse through access to the folder they are not seeing the shares S: drive. Ive mapped the path \\domain\folder\sub-folder through explorer as the S:\ drive Ive tired mapping is as login as different user Ive tried putting a script to map in the all users startup folder but other users do not see it when they hit browse from access? Any idea?

So we have been using sccm for a while here, but only manually deploying the client to machines for testing. We are ready to deploy it site wide, so ive enabled the check box for auto push. How long should i expect before i see it running, and where can i check to see that it is infact pushing it to machine without the client installed.

Yea, will just need to see how deep this class is going to be going. I would hate for 1 student to mess up the whole VM and cause it to go down and not allow other students to access it etc... We run ESXi already and that was a suggestion.

So we are not a comp sci school, but we have a comp sci department who wants a virtual linux lab as they do not have hardware to run linux on. The goal of the lab will be to allow students to have a dedicated desktop / profile where they can make changes and save them. We want to run Centos 7, but like i said we can just load up 12 laptops, or 12 desktop on campus and dedicated them to this class. We don't have any vdi licenses, and i spent all day trying to create Linux Pool in the new hyperv only to find out it is not supported (i believe, and only Windows Pools can be made). Any suggestions would be appreciated. We have thought about making 1 VM, and giving it 12 users (all of the students), restricting its accessibility on our network etc... but we would like to hear what other institutions are doing. Thanks!

Well that explains a lot! I bet that is the issue.

Has anyone managed to create a personal or pooled desktop collection using Centos 7? I can create the VM, Gen1, and install Centos. Login etc..., but when i try to make a personal desktop collection it says it cannot retrieve the template details. Ive managed to make a virtual pool using win7, but not with anything *nix based, any suggestions? Thanks

We cant get larger (over 10 - 15page) pdfs to print properly from webprint. It will render process and queue them just fine to be released but it wont do the whole document. For example a 41 page pdf will upload but only 37 pages will be queued to print. Same with a 288 pages (233 or 237 ready to print, varies between uploads). We have tried both the xpdf and acrobat option.pdf choices and they both do the same. We can print the same documents just fine from the web print server... Any ideas???

We are having very inconsistent issues with the way our macs connect to our print server using SMB. Many will work just fine, but a few will give printer waiting for auth. We have the newest papercut client installed, and the dialogue pops up upon first print and the user enters their info, and it will sometimes print fine for a few days and then eventually end up back in the same state. Any suggestions?

nope, we have 3 scenarios... AD macs with single users AD macs with multiple users and deepfreeze (labs) Non AD macs with single users

what is kerberos... ?? ive never even heard of this lol

Anyone having issues with macs not being able to authenticate.... We cant seem to find a consistent reason why or a consistent fix. We have the AD alias (which papercut apparently needs to authenticate) added to the local users profiles We add the prints using the Advanced printer options and Windows printer via spoolss following this format: smb://print.server.name/print.queue.name We have even tried adding the AD username and password to the beginning smb://ADUSERNAME:[email protected]/print.queue.name Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt work, sometimes it works for a day then stops.... Very confused....

indeed, just setup deploystudio on it. and working with some workflows. seems like a better way to do stuff ... base os -> packages -> settings ... instead of capturing images from master macs
-
think i figured it out. removed the host entry from the dns section and it looked like it booted and i was able to restore a mac. testing with a captured image now.

interface Vlan25 description labs ip address xxx.xx.xx.xx 255.255.254.0 ip helper-address 10.20.1.10 ip helper-address 10.104.0.116 ip helper-address 10.104.0.65 no ip redirects no ip unreachables .116 is our pxe server and .65 is the ip of the mac server running osx server
-
im not seeing anything under "connections" on the server though. I dont have DHCP enabled on the server (don't think i need to)...
-
ok line added... flashing earth went away, circle globe showed up.... now its the spinning wheel and apple logo..... waitttting....
-
so we got the mac server up with osx sever and create just a maverick image from the installer. Im assuming ill have to add an ip-helper line to the vlan that points to the ip of the server?
-
yup. thanks! installing 10.9... server osx 10 (v. 3) purchased here we go!
-
yea i dont want the guy making the master images walking into our data center
-
ahh so 1 extra step. We would need to capture the image to another mac and then upload it. Cool. Updating the mac mini now. Ill keep everyone posted.
-
So really the simplest way for right now would be to get the mac mini that is in our data center updated with Mavericks, and Server OS X 10.9. Put it on the "lab" vlan where all the macs are and enable netboot? Previously we could build the image for our macs on a machine then use firewire to capture the netrestore image to the server to then deploy it, does that same principle apply?
-
deepfreeze!

So we are a most PC university, but our mac population is growing. We have a mac server with it's own switch that run server app and we use that to deploy images to laptops and desktop that we are deploying. When we do a lab, the same process occurs. We have been looking at a more "networked" solution, something similar to SCCM / MDT / WDS that we use for our windows labs. So couple of questions: Would mac's image over the PXE protocol? Can we have both pc and mac's in the same vlan and expect the machines to communicate to the right server for imaging? Is the basic method, setting up the Server app to DHCP / PXE from our apple server? Thanks!
