  1. I added the AD guy to my Groups > administrator on my local machine and tried the clientpush again and it didnt work...
  2. The account we added was the AD admins AD account. If i add my local admin account i should be able to test it?
  3. We made some progress today. SCCM 2012 is up and running. Ive set it to discovery the devices in the LABs OU and it has found mt 205 lab machines. Im having an issue installing the client to then allow software push. Here is the error from the Log file. I even tried to manaully install the client by running SMSClientInstall.exe on the local machine. Quote ---> ERROR: Failed to connect to the \\172.23.6.182\admin$ share using account 'Machine Account' $$<10-10-2013 14:40:46.406+240> ---> ERROR: Unable to access target machine for request: "2097152202", machine name: "R9H6C69", access denied or invalid network path. $$<10-10-2013 14:40:46.409+240> Execute query exec [sp_CP_SetLastErrorCode] 2097152202, 5~ $$<10-10-2013 14:40:46.413+240> I went ahead and manually added the SCCM computer name to the Local admin group, and tried again. 4. Yup... decided to setup a dedicated box and start from scratch while leaving the current system up and running until im comfortable with SCCM. Ive found some great tutorials on windows-noob (sorry if we are not a llowed to post names of other sites). But if anyone has a good tutorial on simply setting up SCCM it would be great!
  5. We have a server 2012 box with WDS and MDT installed... is there where I should install SCCM. Im interested in the new feature in SCCM 2012 "application management" but looking for a little guide in the direction of getting it setup.
  6. Our students are not on the Domain. They for the most part bring their own machines to the College. We would like something where they could login using a browser and have access to either the applications or a "lab desktop". It look like Windows Server 2012 has some new VDI interfaces with remote app. Going to explorer that route a bit more.
  7. Little background: Small private college where students have access to several computer labs (~200pc and ~50mac). Each lab has a general group of software as well as specialty software. The software ranges from Office to Maya 3D. We are in the process of trying to figure out a plan to visualize some of this software. Of course we don't expect to stream Adobe Photoshop or Maya 3D to a students dorm room without spending a lot of money on hardware upgrades. What we would like to do, is provide a way for students to be anywhere on campus and be able to use certain software that is only found in labs. We did POC for VMware VDI and it seemed to work ok, but was really expensive and not that fluid. Cost savings only seemed to come after 5 yrs, and we already have full functioning lab desktops. We initially want a solution that will allow students access to these specialty programs on their laptop or desktops in their dorm rooms or anywhere else than in the actual lab. I spoke with a rep from Stoneware about their webNetwork product, which seems like a VDI style solution that may work, but I was wondering what other company could offer something similar that I could research ans speak to? Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section. Thanks!
  8. Is there a way to see a log file once the deployment has finished and see what is causing the reboots?
  9. THe thing is this same customesettings.ini file would work without issue in MDT2010... now sure what has changed.
  10. I got it, had to put the IP in and nother the "imaging02.rollins.edu"
  11. For some reason when I deploy my regular task sequence on some machines it seems to reboot mid application installs and then the deployment prompts that an in-progress sequence has been detected and would you like to continue or start over. Hitting continue works and it finished with 0 errors. But what could be causing this?
  12. I also tried setting it to the IP of the imaging server but that didnt work. Will I see the changes on a deploy that is already running?
  13. I found the entry "eventservice" added to my customsetting.ini file., but its after the Mandatory Application= entries.... shouldnt it be above those?
  14. So ive checked the box, and put in our imaging sever (imaging02.rollins.edu0 and left the ports default 9800 - 9801 But im not sure if its working properly... at first i wasnt seeing any machines on it, but then randomly today I see 2 machines that are complete. I currently have a machine that is running the deployment and process and it is not showing up under monitor.
  15. I wonder what triggered the reboot? Are you talking about the monitoring?
  16. So randomly when we are imaging desktops the deployment goes through and then it reboots and says "a deployment process has been detect you would like to end this and start a new one" if i hit no it continues where it left off, if i hit yes it just stops... What is this?
  17. what version are you on? My issue is with windows update task. It seems to freeze the machine before the updates are actually done. Turns out DeepFreeze/Faronics is away and gave me some .sys files to copy over and remove deepfreeze if this occurs. But hat is a pain in the a$$ and takes a long time...
  18. Anyone use this program... We have been using it for a few years, and since the newest release we have been having tons of issues with Windows Update loops. Is there another company that offers a similar solution to freeze lab machines and run maintenance on them via a windows server?
  19. Well we are the only one who would install an os... I have a base T420s / T430s Lenovo... are you saying i should boot into MDT2012 and deploy my image the normla legacy way, and then i can turn on UEFI boot after its been imaged?
  20. I can't seen to get our machines to boot via uefi ... It shows ipv4 then goes back to the boot screen
  21. Is it something you turn on in MDT 2012?
  22. the machiens we deploy have UEFI but i wasnt sure of the benefit. I guess i need to look into deploying to machines that use UEFI... and findout if an older machines comes along can i still legacy boot to it ... (all this would be over pxe using mdt 2012)
  23. did it for me, but everything seemed to work still... are you upgrading or moving an old deployment share over>
  24. Can someone help me understand the benefits of uefi booting? I see that MDT2012 now supports true uefi booting... pros ? cons? Still learning exactly what uefi is...
  25. got it. taking a step away for the weekend is all it needed.
