Smoothwall + SIMS.net

Hi Guys,

 

I wonder if you can help. We've got a problem with Smoothwall and SIMS, namely if you try to add a behavior report sims crashes with this error

 

 

 

If the computer does not go through the smoothwall box the error is gone, any idea whats causing it?

try adding the server hostname/ip address to Services > Static DNS, that should point it back internally. OR if you have proxy settings you need to add your internal domain/hostname to the proxy bypass.

 

You will need to use the address sims is using so if its only using the hostname use that or if its FQDN use that - I'm not familiar with sims, but we had the same issue with our sage installation and if I'm right this should fix it

 

either will accomplish the same task.

How do you have the proxy setup? Is it transparent?

407 is Authentication failure. You need to find out what domains it's accessing and add them to Authentication Exceptions. You'll probably find that the behaviour report is 'calling' a web domain somewhere. Stick the client IP in your web filter logs and look for the domain it's accessing.

The traffic shouldn't even be hitting the Smoothwall as the server is internal.

Check Tools > Setups > SIMS .Net Services and make sure proxy is set their with a username / password to authenticate. Hit test to make sure it can get out to the net.

No but what if the Sims system is going external? Sophos link checker does this - it might be a 'local' application but goes out to teh intertubes for various reasons.

There are various parts that do go external, you're right.
