Its a really annoying APP, i'm just hoping the kids get bored of it quickly!
-
I've applied for a Geo-Fencing block on their website already, the app does say that you're in a school when you open it. But you can still click on Top Yaks in your area and it shows everything anyway
-
you cant see "Top Yaks in My Area"?
-
Hi, not sure if this is the right section but could not find a better suited one. We Have a few issues with students abusing each other over this app. If you don't know its way of posting anonymous comments that people in your local area can see (why anyone thought this would be a good idea is beyond me) so naturally, the students are just sending hateful messages to each other. We have blocked it entirely on our network, but the students using 3G is another issue. The app appears to know that they're on a school site and wont let them post new comments while they are here but they can still view the top rated ones. We can't be the only school with this issue, how do others manage it? Thanks, - Viktor.

Hi Guys, How do you deal with recording attendance for after school clubs?
-
I was thinking that, but I wanted some kind of laptop thing. the problem we have is letting one laptop vote several times (as the students swap over)
-
Hi There, Next Thursday we're hoping to run a mock election in school. We want to setup some laptops in booths and get the students to enter one at a time and cast a vote. While keeping a tally somewhere, does anyone know of any software that would be able to do this? Thanks!
-
Did you manage to sort this? we're having the exact same problem

Hi There, This is going to be abit of a strange question. One of the teachers wants students to access the command prompt to test out some batch command. Needless to say i am against this - but he is fairly insistent. So, does anyone know of a "fake" Command Prompt (Maybe a flash game or something) that will act like a command prompt so they can test syntax and commands etc... without actually changing anything? Thanks, Viktor.

[ms office - 2010] Can't create a new database in Access
Viktor_ replied to Viktor_'s topic in Office Software
Sorry I thought i'd tagged it. its Office 2010. I'm trying the default database path in GP, will see. -
Hi There, We're currently getting this error when students attempt to create a new database. "The folder '\\*\*\Documents\Database1.accdb' isn't accessible. The folder may be located in an unabailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a / or \ This happens every time any of the students attempt to create a new database having not done so before That location is accessible and the students have the right permission. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks, Viktor.

Hi There, We are currently running Exchange 2013 with Form-Based Authentication. Ideally, what I'd like to do is move to Integrated Windows Authentication - this would be good for internal users as they would not be prompted for their logon information. I have tested this and it works fine. However, when you access OWA externally (obviously) Integrated Windows Authentication does not work and you are just prompted for logon credentials in a basic logon box. This works but is not ideal, i'd much rarther the Form-Based Authentication when people access from home. Is there anyway of doing this? Having Integrated Windows Authentication people access OWA from within out network while logged onto their AD accounts but if this authentication fails to be presented with the more traditional Form-Based Logon. The only thing i can think of is to create another virtual directory? but i don't really want to have separate addresses. Thanks, Viktor

I feared that was the case. It's a real pain, surely I cant be the only person that has been for this >.<

Hi Guys, Is there anyway (without using 3rd party tools) that we can add a list of passwords that cannot be used? We are already using a fine grained password policy to allow for stricter requirements for staff over students but the staff are still using easy to guess passwords usually the school name followed by a number xD What I would like to do, is add a list of words that cannot be used in a password. Hopefully you guys can help! -Viktor

How have I lived without using that software. Its fantastic, i've already done what I needed to! I would kiss you, if the internet were not in the way. -Viktor

Hi There, I've got a slight issue in that when I created our new intake of year 7's. I got the display name the wrong away around, It is currently surname and first name IE Smith Robert When I would ideally like it to be Robert Smith. Does anyone know of an easy way maybe using powershell to change this around? Thanks for any ideas you can offer. Viktor

Hi Guys, I need to change users My Documents (from and old server to a new one) My Documents are currently redirected by group policy, If i logon to a computer as a user that has never logged on their before the My Documents are successfully redirected to the new server no problems. However, if i log on to a computer as a user that has already logged on previously (IE has a local profile existing on that machine) The documents are NOT redirected - the event viewer says that the redirection was successfully applied and if you look at user shell folders in the registry it points to the new location but if you open My Docs it still points to the old server for some reason If i delete the local profile and then log back on they are correctly redirected. Any ideas why this might be? or a work around? Thanks, Viktor

I've just realized, apparently applocker is not supported in Windows 7 Professional. Can't imagine why but there you go. Thanks anyway
-
Hi All, Can someone help me with Applocker? - I want to stop students running executable from their documents but every time i put in a UNC path (eg \\SERVER\data\pupils\*) its does not block it. I've checked the obvious, the rules are enforced, the path is correct, the identity service is enabled and running and their are no exceptions. This is becoming annoying! Thanks, Viktor.

no its not hosted on the other side of smoothwall!
-
Hi Guys, I wonder if you can help. We've got a problem with Smoothwall and SIMS, namely if you try to add a behavior report sims crashes with this error If the computer does not go through the smoothwall box the error is gone, any idea whats causing it? Thanks, Viktor.

these are the current settings, and there is nothing in the unattended.xml relating to display but it STILL lets it to 1024 x 768. This is a wide screen computer with a much higher optimum resolution.
-
Hi There, I'm using WDS and Deployment workbench, and this problem is infuriating. I've got everything setup just the way I want its fully unattended but it always sets the clients with a stupid 1024 x 768 resolution. Whatever I change or delete it always sets it to 1024 x 768, im tearing my hair out here. I've, deleted all display options from the unattended.xml file in the Task list (IE. in osdeployment\control\TASKID\unattend.xml) and i've tried setting resolution in customsettings.ini. Both have zero affect, please help. Viktor.
-
PS. It also resolves names if i create an alias (CNAME) from the curriculum DC but this still does not seem right and it means nothing without an alias on the curriculum is resolved.

Hello There, We currently have a DNS related problem. We have two domains, an ADMIN and a CURRICULUM one the curriculum is a subdomain of the admin IE curriculum.admin.school.com Currently we can only use FQDN's to access anything on the curriculum, if i try to nslookup anything on the curriculum domain controller i get the error "Non-existent domain" I can get it to work if i append the DNS suffix for both the admin and curriculum in the advanced adapter settings but we never used to have to do that. Also, we seem to have lost our ability to add computers to the domain using their short netbios names, we have to specify their FQDN. Is this related? I was told initially this could be to do with reverse lookup zones but they're all configured and working correctly (pointer records created fine etc..) Could anyone shed some light? if you need more information please ask Cheers, Viktor.
