First experience of ZooStorm not Brilliant

Never used RM stuff. Sounds like a clean all diskpart command is needed.

Thanks for the information, it was helpful and is what RM had told me.

This is the first time of purchasing computers outside of RM to build onto an RM network, unfortunately I missed the thread you link to.

 

As an education supplier I would of thought ZooStorm would of come across this issue before.

OK, Side by side comparison from the Very Flex to the Zoostorm model.

 

Chassis: Brandable, identical.

Power supply: Same "brand" - (can't see what it is) but the Very uses a superior 80+ certified supply. The zoostorm isn't.

Mainboard: As the chassis are bought in bulk these will differ obviously - Very as we know use ECS kit. The Zoostorm is Gigabyte (in this case, no doubt these can and will change as new parts arrive, preferential pricing changes etc)

RAM: Kingston in the Very, "spectek" in the Zoostorm.

SSD: Kingston in the Very (I think, blue anodized unit), Sandisk Pulse in the Zoostorm.

Warranty: 3yr on the Very as standard, 3yr for the Zoostorm + CPLtd's 1yr reliability guarantee.

 

Opened another couple of the Zoostorm's this morning, no loose screws or anything in those, one loose sata power cable to the SSD though.

I still have the freeze issue. Also the time/date changes intermittently. May have to do a net time as a scheduled task.

Over the summer break I commissioned a batch of 120(ish) Zoostorm Deltas; only problem I experienced was a tendency to leave the 12v cable floating around the CPU fan; not great if they get knocked loose in transit and foul the blades of the stock Intel cooler; perhaps an adjustment in practice is needed there? Now starting to roll out a batch of near identical (but beautifully branded) VeryPC units; from what I've seen so far cabling is neatly done on all with no possibility of any interference with the CPU cooler. That'll save me a LOT of time.

Good to hear. We are certainly not buying Zoostorm again, the build quality is just dire and their promises to look at this don't appear to have actually occurred.

Curious on a few bits in here as was potentially looking at some Zoostorms for a bigger roll out this year compared to Dell/HP etc.

 

Do you guys find it's the same issues applying on all of them? or just one/two with different faults etc. In a big batch what percentage would you say have faults?

 

In regards to Very vs Zoomstorm are they using the same supplier etc? Or was that just a rough comparison, just wondering why those two etc

 

Is there somewhere they are customizable? Seems all the premade ones I can find have different specs to what we'd like ideally.

We have a number of Zoostorm machines, they are cheap and cheerful but their build quality is dire and I always dread trying to go through a warranty claim with them.

 

We now purchase most of our machines through very-pc, Communication is brilliant with extremely fast response times (I usually get quotations back within an hour). We have had 1 warranty claim through them when one of the machines had a damaged case through transport and they sent a replacement straight away.

It would be cheaper for me to buy the first one and buy the SSD's separate then fit them my self.

I'm yet to deal with VeryPC, though I do have two pairs of their socks, a mug and a stack load of sweets.... From what I've heard from word of mouth and on here VeryPC's tech seems to be top-notch and when we start replacing our stuffs I'll definitely be giving them a call for that reason.
