We are usually a Dell only shop but pricing is gating a bit steep. Anybody use the above, any good/bad ?

Yeap, we use them and they are great, quiet, quick and small with vPro. We have a bunch of them and have had no issues with them. We are running Windows 8.11 but they were 7 when shipped so should run both, I'd put 8 on though as I love the 5 second cold boot time.

 

We standardised on their predecessor the Elite 8000 through 8300 series and they (largely the same hardware) have been great also. I think we have had one or two stuffed PSUs over a hundred or so machines in four years and that's about it.

Yeah, I've sold stacks of these to schools & companies and I've never had any complaints.

Never used that model though with HP you're usually safe! (He says with a room full of HP server that have never died )

The HP Elites - and the DC7xxx range that preceded them - have always been supoer machines. Great reliability and great warranty. Good combination.

 

It's why 70% of all the refurb desktops we sell are currently HP

I'v got some from a sibling range and are very good, that good I've ordered them across europe and asia

They look nice, like the others we had the 8000 elite including 40 usdt versions in one room and elsewhere we had 7xxx range as well.

Hello, all..

 

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but for those who have these 800s...

 

Have any of you seen this issue?

 

We have a few which randomly don't boot from hard drive - prompts for a system disk - first thing in the morning.

(You can recreate it by leaving the PC switched off for 5 mins or so)

 

On a "first of the day" switch on, if I hit F9 to show the boot order menu, neither the HD or the CD show up as available options.

Likewise, if I go into F10 and select the boot order, they don't show up.

If I power down and back up, it works.

 

HP support were none the wiser, and suggested a replacement hard drive - which I requested 1 of to see if it makes any odds.

 

Has anyone experience this?

 

Oh, and if it helps, we have:

 

Boot order:

UEFI - disabled

Legacy - enabled

1 = NIC (for PXE)

2 = HD

3 = CD

4 = USB

 

Any help gratefully received!

We boot ours from EFI native as we are running W8. Things I would try if you have not already are BIOS update and IME/vPro update as this can easily get in the way.

 

Have not had these issues with the hp 800 or their predecessors did have a similar issue with a bit of Lenovo rubbish, the only fix there was a new motherboard. If the firmware updates don't fix it I would try EFI hybrid or native if you can (W7 can manage at a push) and if that does not work push for new motherboards.
