newpersn Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 ok I right click my task sequence Click on Distribute content Click next on general Click next on content When i get to content destation it not show any distrbution points? What am i missing?
free780 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 So your content is distributed. What error code do you get when try and image the PC? Failing that when in winpe hit F8 (if you have enabled command line support) and type cmtrace, Then close the wizard and you should find a log file on X drive called smsts.log . That should point to the issue.
Gatt Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Have you already deployed it? Check the deployments tab at the bottom of that screen Can you grab the SMSTSLog.log file from the client to see why its failing (Press F8 during the deployment and copy the log file to the server via the command prompt)
Gatt Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 What is Package CKS00003? From the numbering I'm guessing its either a boot image - or your CCM Client Package? Norphy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 ok I right click my task sequence Click on Distribute content Click next on general Click next on content When i get to content destation it not show any distrbution points? What am i missing? Stupid but obvious question: Do you have a DP set up?
free780 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 CKS00003 is a x86 boot image? When you pxe boot is it a x86 and x64 image you should be able to see when it pxe boots as it has the content id code? What boot image do you have assinged to the TS? Its a good idead to distribute both. In \\\REMINST\SMSImages you should have 2 folders. More if you have distributed more than 1 x86 and 1 x64 image.
Gatt Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Stupid but obvious question: Do you have a DP set up? Yeah he does - once a package is distributed, the DP and/or DP Group that its deployed to is hidden from view and only shows DPs/Groups that it has not het been distributed to CKS00003 is a x86 boot image? When you pxe boot is it a x86 and x64 image you should be able to see when it pxe boots as it has the content id code? What boot image do you have assinged to the TS? Norphy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Yeah he does - once a package is distributed, the DP and/or DP Group that its deployed to is hidden from view and only shows DPs/Groups that it has not het been distributed to I realise that but if there is no DP in the farm, it wouldn't show any there as well. These things are worth checking.
Gatt Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I realise that but if there is no DP in the farm, it wouldn't show any there as well. These things are worth checking. Log file shows there is a DP: Found location: http://FQDN/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/CKS00003
newpersn Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Yeah he does - once a package is distributed, the DP and/or DP Group that its deployed to is hidden from view and only shows DPs/Groups that it has not het been distributed to What he said. Yep i got those 2 folders with the right files in.
Gatt Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Ok few things: In your TS - what OS Type are you deploying - x64 or x86? What boot image are you using in the TS Properties - again x64 or x86? On your boot image properties, check the data source tab and ensure the "Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point" is checked
free780 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 You could try re-distributing all the content. I take it you have setup a network access account and updated your boot images?
Norphy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The other thing that's worth checking is seeing if the boot image has gone to the DP. You may have set it to, it doesn't mean that it's actually gone. If that pie chart is red or yellow, click on the View Status link and see what the error is.
newpersn Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Ok few things: In your TS - what OS Type are you deploying - x64 or x86? What boot image are you using in the TS Properties - again x64 or x86? Im trying to deply Windows 7 Ent 32bit Im using the 32bit boot image. (should i try using 64bit?) On your boot image properties, check the data source tab and ensure the "Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point" is checked Done that already
Norphy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Im using the 32bit boot image. (should i try using 64bit?) You should have both 32 and 64 bit boot images but you have to use the 32 bit boot image with 32 bit windows (and vice versa)
newpersn Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 anyone got the most basic and idiot guide to help me?
free780 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 A x86 boot image can deploy bios x86 and x64 images. If you are using UEFI then you need the same architecture as the os you are deploying. It looks like your task sequence is failing because: The content (os image, answer file, boot image, drivers, applications, packages) hasn't been distributed to the DP correctly. Try deleting it off the DP and redistributing it. It could be an application that has a dependency.
DarrenM Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Do you have other PCs with the same GUID? There is a reg hack to block a certain GUID and only use the MAC address. Getting SCCM to ignore the UUID? Make sure you restart the SDW service after you reg hack, if it still doesn't work reboot the SCCM server to be sure. Darren
