Heelllppp......Offline files can't stop the synchronisation

I had a round 30 users in a OU which had Offline files set up for them to use laptops away from home.

 

I have now moved these staff from this OU to another new OU where thye no longer need offline files configured but the bloomin synchcornisation keeps taking place.

 

I have disable the set the correct settings in the new OU but it seems to make no odds. It is almost like the offline files featrure has followed th userr to the new OU.

 

This is driving me mad..does anyone know how to get me out of this?

If it's doing it on the machines that were configured for offline files in the first place then try the following;

 

1. Log on as admin level account

2. Go into control pannel - folder options

3. Goto the offline files tab

4. Hold down CTRL and SHIFT while clicking the 'delete files' button.

 

It should give you a message asking if you want to re-initialise the offline files cache, click yes and then re-start the machine. (There may be a way of scripting this, I've never looked into it thou.)

It worked a treat, i am going to find a way of automating/scripting this via GPO if i can so i can do it to all the computers concerened.

When moving users and/or computers to a new OU, it occasionally can take a considerable amount of time before the computer adopts settings within the new OU.

 

By clicking Start, Run and type "gpupdate /force" (without quotes) does greatly accelerate this process. Of course some policies still require a reboot of the machine to allow all new policies to be applied.

 

Similar to WSUS in that respect, typing "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" (without quotes) forces the workstation to immediately communicate with the WSUS server.

 

Please note the gpupdate command only works on XP or later! Hope this helps.
