MDT 2012/13 and App deployment

Hello,

 

Just starting out with MDT for the first time. It looks like to deploy applications we need to have them packaged as MSI's and then selected/assigned to Task sequences. Is this how anyone is pushing out applications. If so what MSI builder are you using and how does this work with multiple sites that have different site licenses for each application? If I'm totally confused on everything let me know. Thanks.

It doesn't have to be an msi. exe will work but ideally you want them to have a silent install switch.

 

For different sites/licenses you could have different Task Sequence so each one installs different application.

 

Or forget using MDT to deploy apps and use GPO to do it based on your AD configuration
