Simple question how do you print off your staff ID badges/cards? We dont currently have a system but are moving to MiFare cards for copiers over the summer and wondering if i can expand the cards to be ID badges/lanyards for not too much money.

Hi Dave,

We currently have two badge printers, 1 is a Enduro Magicard and a Zebra ZXP3. I am not sure if they can do MiFare cards, but we do use another type of proximity badges. For software we use Securit5400. @Millgate provided the Zebra and a 2nd license for Securit5400 and possibly theidcardcentre for the 1st license and the Enduro.

The badges are used as ID Badges, gate and door entry cards and soon to be for the minibus keys. We also have different badge designs and different coloured lanyards for staff, guests and contractors so that they are identifiable

Hope this is helpful

We are using MiFare contactless cards for our EasyTrace catering system [since August last year]

Our Reprographics Department handles the printing of the cards on a Zebra P330i card printer.

This encodes the chip after the colour printing is complete and the card has been laminated.

Staff use their cards as ID badges in lanyards.

Hi Dave,

As mentioned above, we can supply you with the printers to DIY

However, we can also do the whole thing for you and provide you with the finished product. Let me know if you need any prices etc

We use a Sunlight K3 printers for our ID badges, and purchased normal blank MiFare cards for use in our automated entry system for staff as well as their ID badge (students just get their bus passes printed on a normal plastic card via the same system since they don't need the MiFare chip). Alas the printer is now discontinued.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking at the cost of these printers i think a sticky label on the MiFare card and placed in a plastic badge holder might be our best option as wont get funding for the printer!

We have Paxton access control so have a Magicard printer , this makes the cards ID badges as well as access cards. Software build into Paxton.

We did have a Zebra 330i then got some enduro magicard thing, printed using Paxton and Badgemaker(looked like the oldest program in the world or at least the version we had)
