I applied for £5000 of shares and got £1850's worth. I paid in the 5K on Monday and will be a due a refund of £3150, which I hope I will eventually get back. People who requested £40K only got around £2500s worth. So who gets the interest on all this money that is going to be refunded at some time and is sitting in an account somewhere?

Considering I only got around a third and people who invested big amounts got a lot less, the pot of money is quite large. I'd say in excess of 2 Billion. I guess the interest will go towards the Chairman's bonus!

The wonderful world of paper/electronic money. Transfer it (invisibly, to you) to this account for 24 hours, then to that account for 24 hours, rinse and repeat, siphon off.....sorry...earn a fortune.

Funny, whenever anyone has to refund money to my bank account, it still takes 'Three working days', whereas I can send an IM to California and get a reply in the blink of an eye.

Never understood why it takes days when I can send money to my mum for the house rent and it appears there straight away.

because in the UK we have "free" banking, in the US people have to pay for current accounts and have transaction fees etc
