im just deciding on what poundage kg osprey to buy as a new field HT bow so I can keep my border hex's for target

Mine are both Groves Spitfires (one is 36lb and t'other at 42lb) I'm shooting bare bow at field targets.

Long way off splatting rats but I'd fancy my chances against a mitzy riddled bunny.

it borders field course I cant find the picture of the raptors but if you get the chance to shoot at it do it its a fantastic day out 100 3d's targets over about 35ish pegs

Archery is pretty fun and id recommend it to anyone, but i couldn't see myself hunting :v the thought of it turns my stomach

Not entirely accurate. Bow hunting is legal on private land with land owners permission, provided you are not hunting an endangered species or out of season. You also need Certification from IBEP (International Bowhunter Education Program) before you can bow hunt. The British Bowhunting Association offers the training and accreditation on this. Also, if you have an IBEP certification, you can legally bow hunt in Denmark, Germany and France also.

 

Also if you join BASC at the same time, you get a few benefits which extend to rifle hunting, angling etc.

I should add, the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 only prohibits bow hunting on public land, conservation sites, national parks and wildlife parks, and prohibits the use of certain types of arrowheads such as the Broadhead. However if you watch shows like Ray Mears for example, he demonstrates bow hunting in the UK, once he has gained the relevant permissions from land owners (which is not shown).

Yeah the law is interesting on this one, as my original post stated I shoot field targets.

 

Besides there's nothing worth hunting round these 'ere parts. Warthog or Boar or something that could give you a nasty 'Baratheon' that'd be more my kind of sport.

@ nephilim not quite true. it is Not allowed anywhere in the Uk private land or not it's fine to bowhunt using any type of bow,

on the continent with the correct licence poundage bow, and I have no problem with it

no wheeley bows for me, bloody voodoo they are however I doo love my border takedown and am lusting after a black douglas or a once piece border reiver
