Hi All,

So Office 2013 keeps popping up with a proxy box and no matter what you enter it falls over. Added the stuff to custom allow list in smooth wall but its still beyond annoying.

So I can fix this by changing a setting to stop office connecting to the internet. But its not an acceptable solution just to tell staff to change the setting.

I have seen that it can be fixed by editing registry entries. Which is not an ideal solution because I run a sysprepped image. (add it to the sysprep at the end you say.... No thanks not if I can help it)

I have installed the latest Office 2013 GPO templates from Microsoft (installed following this very helpful video

) but I cannot find the option to uncheck allow office to connect to the internet.

Does anyone know the GPO I need?

Have you got your Smoothwall set up to use Kerberos authentication instead of NTLM? Office 2013 doesn't support NTLM authentication, and I've seen this issue a few times where the proxy hasn't been set up to use Kerberos.

Hi Iain,

Aware of the Kerberos NTLM issues. If I have to change this then I can do. I am slowly coming round to the possibility Office will allow a user to change this but wont allow us add it to a GPO.

Point to not Iain I have been informed if you change from NTLM to Kerberos then it can cause more issues. Its been flagged with smoothwall as something to be changed. They are on about running both NTLM and Kerberos on the same port or something (not a clue, if I did I would be getting paid a lot more.)

we have fixed this issue by adding these lines into the advanced settings under lan settings.

officeimg.vo.msecnd.net;office.microsoft.com;odc.officeapps.live.com

We use BLOXX not smoothwall if that makes a difference.
