I like revolution - although I'm not surprised it did.

 

Alcatraz was better than touch but that got a 2nd season.

 

Vegas was cancelled too. For shame

 

Why don't they give these things time to grow?

I think Big Bang Theory is starting to struggle a bit at the moment, this seasons been a bit poor, 2 and a half men isnt bad with Ashton, they just about pulled it off I think there with him, there wasnt a Vacuum with Sheen and Cryer is good having stepped up more.

 

I am a family guy/american dad/South Park fan, that stuff has gotten funnier as its gone on I think, its similar to the simpsons, the early stuff looks and is quite poor compared to the modern day stuff, though they can all still have bad episodes.

 

Hannibal has been awesome as well, bit grim in places, but quality writing throughout there and Mads Mikkelsen is a superb choice for hannibal.

 

I know its not going to get binned, but Game of Thrones has been poor so far and feels a bit rushed compared to the books I think at the moment.

Last night's episode of GOT was amazing. GOT had a formula of 2 build up (poor) episodes then one amazing one. It was always going to be difficult with some many story lines to cater for.

Because things like Big Bang Theory keep getting renewed. US TV has a long history with TV series' getting too many seasons. Breaking Bad should've ended after S4, How I Met your Mother should've been wrapped up 2 or 3 seasons ago.

What is it with the Americans right now, all they seem to want is endless series of reality shows and talent shows. Nothing original.

 

So no different to UK TV, then!

 

Another one I liked was Under the dome which seems like its coming back in the summer...

 

Still got the last couple of "Domes" to watch, but it was never supposed to be an ongoing series (which seems quite natural, given its concept). However, great ratings saw the end retooled so they could squeeze more out of it.

 

It's always sad when a favourite show gets the chop, but I'm finding that there are more shows that I'm interested in than I can keep up with - hence only having seen the first few eps of "Revolution"; there's always something I'd rather spend 42 minutes with!

You'd have missed out on Firefly if you use that plan!

 

I do think that the "cliffhanger" season finale (while I can see its point) is a bad thing for fans if the show is cancelled. I also think that shows that set up long arcs should have a plan to enable a swift wind up and that notice should be given to allow this to be implemented.

Yep I agree, Firefly is the exception to the rule there. Well if we are talking about series that were great and shouldn't have been cancelled then there are many, already mentioned.

 

The issue though is the series ends, filming has long wrapped up, then execs decide to can it...

But not the only one. US comedy Outsourced managed to end its one season in a way that provided closure, and The Fifth Corner managed to find a point that provided a satisfactory end after only a few eps. The "one season wonder" that I'd most recommend is the paranoid thriller "Nowhere Man" which managed to wrap up its arc in a way that both provided a satisfying conclusion and left the door ajar for more intrigue.

 

You're right about when the decision gets made - it's a shame it's not earlier.
