Hi all,

This is just a quick notice to let you know that our EDIT 2014 Conference is open to ALL Edugeek members.

We realised the previous text may be a bit ominous regarding techies AT companies, we hope this clarifies that ALL techies from ALL sectors are welcome.

Please note that you are not allowed to attend in a commercial capacity unless exhibiting or otherwise arranged.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

You can register for free here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/edugeek-edit-2014-preston-registration-11166987761

Taxi maybe? I don't think there's an actual bus that goes direct.

I'm thinking that may be the only option. Google Maps does show bus stops by the club, but finding what buses stop at those stops seems to be a challenge!

I don't suppose anyone knows what bus to take from Preston train station to get the Grasshoppers? I was looking at that yesterday and I just cannot work it out!

There is not one direct from the station, however the Number 23 does go from outside the Dog and Partridge and will drop off just over the road from the Black Pull pub in Fulwood. Grasshoppers is about a 15 min walk from there.

I'm pretty sure there was also a circular bus that stops by Grasshoppers, but I can't find the details.

Preston bus timings can be found here: Services - All Routes

I am going to see them later this morning so will ask them when I'm there.

Which is the best bus to get for the hotel? I usually end up walking from the station!

Unfortuntely, there is no bus stops by the hotel, but you can look for either a Lancaster or Garstang bound bus which will stop nearby on Garstang Road. Either that or the Number 23 will stop at Black Bull lights in Fulwood and it's a 5-10 min walk from there. A taxi from the train station would be about £8-£9

What day/time are you due into Preston BTW? It may be I could give you a lift.

I think about 4.30-ish. Depends on the trains really, especially cross-London. I hope there is no Tube Strike on Weds!

We are still looking into what would be the best way to do that and have been looking at the possibility of using YouTubes Live Stream for a change.

Don't panic though, we shall be streaming it.

Can I request an external mic on the stream capturing device that can be put in front of the presenters to make it a little easier to make out this year if that has not already been sorted?

Eep! I have to be honest here. It's a very good idea and one we really should look at but I only have one day left for organisation and Shaun has been held up with some problems (bureaucratic and mechanical!) which means I doubt I will be able to sort one out in time.

If you can find one on this site: CPC | CPC - Over 100, 000 products from one of the worlds leading distributors of electronic and related products. I can pick one up however, please be aware we wouldn't have time to test it properly before we went live. Still, please take a look.

I'm swamped atm as you can imagine!

@Dos_Box We have one of these you can use if you like (I have a lightweight tripod it can be mounted to as well):

Dorr Super Cardioid Microphone CV03 - Microphones - Video - Harrison Cameras

I have a tripod to mount it on - all you'll need is enough audio cable to link a 3.5mm jack from the central stage area to your input.

I'm bringing it for our Prize-a-day-May Video anyway, so it's up to you if you want to use it.

Oooh! Shiny :)

I'll take you up on that please and will have a good look around on CPC for an extension cable I can pick up first thing in the morning.

A little bit late notice, but if anyone would like a lift from the hotel (ibis Preston North) then send me a PM as I'll be passing that way.
