IE9 + Zero Day Threat

So random question,

 

We rolled out the Zero Day threat patch from Windows Update to our domain using GPO.

We then noticed that IE9 starts to act really funny, when you click a link it makes you download the .htm file, it wont open (opens the download dialogue windows) as well a messing up Lync 2013 to where you cant hit the Enter key to send a message.

 

Anyone else noticed these issues?

 

Updating to IE 11 and everything works fine.

Haven't seen this on our side, most of our class PC's are still running IE9, slow roll out of IE10 continues meanwhile.
