[sims] Anyone using Call Parents Reggie system?

I've prefixed this SIMS as we are running a SIMS MIS here. With the fixation many staff now have on mobile devices we are moving ever faster toward handhelds - specifically iPads. When it comes to taking registers etc we have tried but didn't get on well with Bromcom's Teachers Web Folder but are now exploring the Reggie App from Call Parents. Anyone using it please and able to offer feedback - the demo definitely looks good and seems to be pretty good bang for bucks as well.

sorry not using that one but did look at Emerge Groupcall Emerge - the powerful yet intuitive iPhone / iPod 'App' which enables schools to have an up-to-the-minute copy of their MIS data instantly and securely available in the palm of their hand

Which is similar, not sure on pricing.

In regards to Emerge we run it here, and you pay per number of devices you want to use, based on a pricing bracket, or site license.

 

Staff love using it, especially for SLT/trips/PE lessons etc

 

Last time we renewed it was based like this:

 

 

1st Emerge Device Licence & Server console Licence £299

 

2nd and subsequent Emerge Device Licences £125

 

Additional 5 licence pack (equivalent unit price of £99) £495

 

Additional 10 licence pack (equivalent unit price of £89) £890

That's cheaper than Emerge. Emerge has more options though.

We had Emerge and Reggie running side by side for a comparison.

Emerge came out miles ahead. Reggie seemed very basic and we thought that it would soon become very frustrating for users.

We only have a 5licences but it is very easy to use and to manage.

If you are concerned with cost then what about running an RDP app to SIMS running an a Terminal Server.

I am in the process of evaluating "reggie" here. A few comments:

 

1. The android app does not currently work as it is supposed to - I don't know whether the iOS version works. You can take registers but there is lots of broken functionality. I have raised these issues.

2. It is simple, which I prefer over the emerge app, we only want to take registers.

3. I am waiting for news of updates on the bug fixes, and as yet have had no timeframe for when/if these will be implemented

4. I suspect the software is very new as we were able to get a very good price quote compared to emerge, however if it doesn't work properly, then we won't be buying it anyway.

5. There are a few oddities and UI issues.

 

I think it has real promise, but is not quite there yet.

Sorry to resurrect this one but does anyone use Reggie? @speckytecky @klawd did you guys buy into it?

 

We are considering it here purely for PE to do registers.
