Hi all,

Just checked my email and I have just seen an email from @VeryPC.

I notice the email says:

Hi Harry

Hello from VeryPC HQ in Sheffield. The days are getting warmer and in the words that you'll never hear Ned Stark saying, "Summer is coming". It's the busiest time of year for VeryPC, which means it's time to let us know what your big plans are...

...and especially for our EduGeek friends (yes you, hawc) a special announcement of upcoming fun in May, way down belowwwww.

I notice you have managed to get my EduGeek username onto the email.

I never remember linking the two together. I think that the only time I have given you my email is for the Nano Sketch competition.

I am not complaining or anything but I am curious as to how this happens? Do the EduGeek Gods have anything to do with it?

Thanks

Harry

Any sane company will have these details logged into their CRM software as they get them. So, when you entered a competition, it'll have been written down. That's how I'd do it anyway! :)

I can vouch that the Admins of EduGeek have nothing to do with us knowing your name, it was simply a bit of this-goes-here-these-bits-are-the-same-so-that-must-go-there work by us using info you have sent us in the past separately (online form and PM I think - maybe email or phone number as the linking key - not 100% sure exactly which but it made perfect sense at the time). We de-dupe and combine our data to avoid multiple records in our CRM.

I know for a fact, and he has posted as much himself too, that Chris and his EduGeek team protect your privacy ferociously. There is no way in forever that they would share your personal information with us without your prior consent, sponsors or no.

Also, be assured that VeryPC protect your privacy in the same way. We'll never share it with any 3rd party unless you allow us to or we're compelled to by law. Sharing or selling private info without consent is a really shady practice and not something VeryPC want to be associated with.

I have the same E-Mail but it does not refer to Edugeek and it does not mention DaveP.

You may be in our list from entering a previous competition via our online form, but have never sent info via EduGeek therefore we would not have been able to marry the data together. Did your eshot have the section about the competition or not (Only those contacts we know the EduGeek username for were told about the competition).
