File Copy Weirdness

Hi folks,

 

I spotted some odd behaviour when copying a 4GB ISO file.

 

The file was downloaded to my PC (Win 8.1), but the downloads folder is on the file server (2008 R2). I copied the ISO file to another folder on the server and saw no network traffic on my PC at all. The file copy was relatively slow, varying between 1-10 MBytes/s. When I did that same file copy on the server itself the speed was around 100MBytes/s.

 

Anyone know (a) why it wasn't using my PC to copy the file and (b) why it was so slow?
