Sheridan Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Has anyone else got any Zoostorm PCs? We've got a load in here and they're great but we cannot get wake on lan to work at all. Theres no settings at all in the BIOS for WOL, and all the options are enabled in the Windows 7 network card configuration page, so I guess the onboard NIC is WOL capable. We use WOL to start up all PCs, so this is a nuisance!

Sheridan Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Its a Realtek GBE on a Gigabyte H61M-DS2 motherboard - a new board with the new style UEFI Bios so I'd be amazed if WOL isn't supported.

(Default: Disabled) Note: When this item is set to Enabled, the following functions will become unavailable: PME event wake up, power on by mouse, power on by keyboard, and wake on LAN 1

How bizarre, if you enable it, it disabled WOL. the default setting is disabled but all of ours have come with it enabled. I've never heard of erp before so I was staring that one in the face! Domino Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 ErP is a European regulatory standard, it's to do with having the machine being able to consume a really low amount of power when shutdown or in standby. I imagine on this particular motherboard that doesn't provide enough power for the NIC to be able to listen for WOL packets.. Nice you've got it sorted though 1

Took me 12 months of short return visits to a charity I help out with to get their Zoostorm's to WOL - I suspect it was this same setting I eventually found. Grrr!
Sheridan Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 I'm rapidly going off these zoostorm PCs - theres a bug in the BIOS which means that every so often it goes into the BIOS backup routine when you start them up! When you've a lot of these it means you have to check they have all booted up properly otherwise the kids start to tinker with the BIOS backup settings - even though its password protected! Logged a call, and 2 weeks later no update from zoostorm. Another manufacturer I'll be avoiding in the future then.
