30 ipads for school

So the school wants 30 ipads,

 

our LEA IT support currently supplies a mobile device management service to the 3 we have already.

 

We have spoken t them about increasing the liceanses etc with them so thats fine,

 

just a couple of questions,

 

Will we need an Apple server?

 

Does anyone know of a good charging trolly?

 

Edit: Also is there a School close to Ashford in Kent that has this many Ipads so I could take a peek at how they are set up?

We have just rolled out 28 iPads. We have installed a Mac mini server and it is so easy to manage them. I have a site on Meraki and i don't find that one as user friendly.

 

And look at the Monarch range. The model we purchased will allow you to image 30 ipads in one go via USB.

We currently manage about 20+ ipads in our organisation and they range from personal ipads to shared student ipads. We have a mac mini server with apple configurator to supervise and automatically enroll into our MDM. (Meraki Systems Manager)

The Monarch trollies are really good. The price is midrange too which is nice. If you're price conscious the only other trolley worth taking a look at is the cheaper ISIS 30 bay sync/charge trolley. (PM for details on either of these )

 

You'll do well with a Mac mini as well. It doesn't have to be super powerful, an older core 2 duo one would do the job providing you install Mavericks on it.

I currently have 85 iPads and 25 iPod touches all managed through Lightspeed MDM and use an iMac to auto enrol them, they are shared but there are some stumbling blocks which teachers have to work their way around.

 

I am based about 3 miles from Bluewater. More than happy to chat in person.

If you want to go for a real extreme, there is a school in Tenterden, Kent which is rolling out large scale Year by Year iPads deployment (and their year groups are over 300 students), it is worth going to see them as they really have it licked.
