Office 365 & Windows Azure dirsync

Hi

 

I've just started to look at setting up student advantage office 365. I was going to use Windows azure directory sync to synchronise all our AD username and passwords.

 

I've just contacted the company that we purchased our Microsoft school agreement with, asking how much It would cost to add Windows azure to our existing agreement. They tell me this can't be added.

 

She says "If the school require this there is a minimum purchase value of £12,000 for the product and then Microsoft will allow you to purchase this product".

 

I'm missing the point somewhere. How have your schools setup office 365 student advantage. Or how have you sync AD to office 365.

use the DIRSYNC tool. on the o365 website. You need to buy nothing.

There are certain requirements to be eligible:

 

You must have an OVS-ES or EES volume licensing agreement.

You must cover 100% of your faculty/staff for Office on that OVS/ES or EES agreement

We've just set up Student Advantage.

 

I called up our re sellers who had to raise an invoice which was 'Nil' and process the order.

Once this was done i got the activation keys from Volume Licensing and applied it in O365 under the licensing section.

 

The student advantage can now be assigned to students within O365.

Just to say - all the above is true, for Student Advantage. The webmail/Sharepoint side of Office 365 doesn't have any requirement beyond "you are a school" - and it's entirely free. Don't worry about the Windows Azure thing, that's irrelevant.
