New Terminal Servers on Windows 2012

Hi All,

 

I am going to create a virtual Terminal Server using Server 2012 based on VMware 5.5. I have been thinking about having two Terminal Servers to spread the load and creat an element of fault tolerance should one of the servers go down.

 

Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? Would I need some kind of broker service? I am aware that VMWare don't support certain Microsoft Clustering solutions so not sure of the best way forward.

Are you going to be hosting these servers on seperate hosts? As if there is a fault on the host both servers will fail. Also MS have RD Connection Broker to load balance between servers as part of the RDS install.

Yes I will make sure that the VMs are on different hosts, like you say with them both on one host there is a possibility of the host failing too.

We're planning much the same thing. I think we're aiming for a separate licensing server, RD Connection Broker server and two separate RDS servers to do the actual work. It shouldn't really make any difference what hypervisor you use to run the servers, and Windows virtual server should act the same on evey hypervisor.
