Xibo Issue

Hello,

 

I'm having an issue with my Xibo installation and I've not really got anywhere by asking on their launchpad page.

 

I'm getting the following error in the xibo administration page:

 

preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead

... and I can't register any clients. When I click the 'display admin' button it takes me to the xibo administration page, click 'register and I get:

 

Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.

The request failed with an empty response.

 

The XAMPP and Xibo server is on a S2008R2 box, W7 32 bit clients.

 

Hope somebody can help! My PHP knowledge is limited (ie non existent).

Sounds like a wrong version of PHP see :- Install Guide Xibo Server - Xibo

"Note: New versions of XAMPP come with PHP 5.3.1 or later. We have some reports of the webservice in Xibo that uses the nuSOAP library not working properly with PHP > 5.2. You can download XAMPP 1.7.1 here which comes with PHP 5.2.9 and should work for everyone."

Thanks for the reply - I've rolled it back to that version of XAMPP but I'm still getting the same error on the client.

 

I've just noticed that despite me saying I'm using a 32 bit client, which I thought I was, I'm actually using a 64 bit client which doesn't look like it's officially supported... will report back once I've cobbled together a 32 bit client to test!

I have only used 64bit clients with Xibo for a good while now, no issues. It does sound like an issue with your server configuration.

@3s-gtech thanks. I've reinstalled once or twice now following their guidelines closely, so if it's anything that I've not configured correctly then it's not in the documentation.

 

Just noticed that rolling back XAMPP has got rid of the 'preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead' error that was spamming the logs in the administration console, so the only errors I'm seeing at the moment are on the client when I try and register.

 

I'm going to try a 32 bit client when I'm on site tomorrow. Thanks all (for now!).

Did you reinstall the Xibo server ?

I did. As I say, it's got rid of the 'preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead' error but I'm still in the same position with trying to register the client. Looks as if there's a file missing somewhere, maybe one that the server should be copying over when it registers? I'm guessing...

Did you re-register the clients ? eg delete then re register using the right key? Edited March 28, 2014 by caffrey

Yeah, rebuilt the box to 32 bit (it was 64 bit to start with), clean install of client, correct server key, click 'register' and get this:

 

Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.

The request failed with an empty response.

 

If I click 'Display admin' it takes me to the Xibo login page, and I can log and and administer the xibo server from the client.

Our server runs on a linux vm, never had any issues with it

OK, reinstalled the server again and it's started working. No idea why, but it seems to be running now!

Glad it's sorted, just sounded like a path error - all else fails reinstall all the things
