Interactive Whiteboard that doesn't need a projector

Hi all,

I need an interactive whiteboard that doesnt need a projector for a school i'm working in, was wondering if anyone know of any good Smart resellers etc. What I am after is a whiteboard that is more like a big touch screen but that can use smart notebook software or equivalent on it.

Cheers

You could go down the route of a 70" LCD screen and get one of these couple that up with a mini computer on the back and you would probably save 3.5k on that previous recommendation.

Its worth a try :D

Also watch this video pretty impressive yeah?

One of these?:

SMART Board E70 interactive flat panel - SMART Technologies

No doubt they're very expensive but that's going to fit your criteria exactly

These are excellent. One of my primary schools have them and they work a treat. And in the long run, are no more expensive and a projector and smartboard when you take in to account for 4-5 projector lamps and the cost of mounting a projector and board. Mount this is exactly like mounting a normal tv on the wall. And once it is up that's it, nothing too it. All the connections are under the bottom lip so easy to get too (maybe a little too easy... kids pulling at them has been known)

They come with a 5 year guarantee as well if I remember right, like most smart products.

Also, if you want to convince the school to buy them and they are an "eco school" then these tvs are much friendlier to the enviroment, and use up much less power than a projector.

Promethean also do them. You could always phone up both companies and try for a trial of them...

as above these screens are amazing we had one in for 2 days from Steljes to trial and the only negatives comment were that was a bit bright but a quick flick through the screen modes and a mild setting later everyone loved it! The only thing we found with the screen is that it only comes with 2 x 10w speakers so unless you have small quiet classes you would probably need a set of speakers to go with the screen.

The only possible issue with doing this (and the other brands that people have suggested) is that the OP said that he wanted SMART Notebook compatibility. The only way you're guaranteed to get that is to buy a SMART product. That's not to say that the other screens wouldn't work but I'd hate to buy one and find out that $obscure_feature_335412 was vitally important and that they couldn't possibly teach without it and that it only works on SMART branded products.

But you pays your money, you takes your risk :)
