  1. I understand where you are coming from however that would only be like a VLE/Learning Platform. I actually mean a fully functional website but obviously not too complicated for them and obviously it cant go live due to e-safety. For example I was going to get them to create a powerpoint in like a dragons den style so that can pitch to me their ideas and then using their ideas they can make a website about their product/service. Then at the end we will look at everyones website and see how everyone got on.
  2. Hi All, I have been asked to run an ICT Club at a primary school. For the first few lessons we will just brush up on some key ICT skills but then I would like to set them a project. One of the ideas I have is for them to create their own website as our school has just recently had a new website made live. However I cannot seem to find a free website provider that would be; Free, Easy enough for the children to use but also safe and isn't always live. If it isn't always live then there would then be no risk of children publishing things they shouldn't be! One of the ideas I have looked at is a Google Site as our school does have Google Apps for Education so they can be managed, however I was wondering if there was another service that anyone may have in mind. Thank you for your help!
  3. Hi All, We are looking at getting a cabinet for our Chromebooks here at the school and we ordered the Ergotron Tablet/Chromebook Wall Mounted Charging Cabinet however frustratingly our Dell Chromebooks are 0.2 inches too wide for the sleeves! The Ergotron was exactly what we were after so does anyone know of anything that is similar and will fit a Dell Chromebook 11? Many thanks,
  4. Hi all, I have a slight problem where I have enrolled all of our Chromebooks however they cannot connect to the internet without the 'Allow Proxies for shared networks' option ticked. As we are a school there is no way around this and we have to have the proxy for filtering and security etc. I have been on the Admin console and I cannot find an option for this to be implemented for all users and devices. So I added the Wifi details here under Network Settings for Devices and Users and I am still having no luck. Can anyone help me otherwise it just seems a bit pointless buying the Chromebooks in the first place, Many thanks,
  5. Ah I see I thought that when you enrolled using a Google Account it would put the device in the same OU but obviously not. The annoying thing is that I cannot actually do that myself as we are an Academy and although I have most rights I don't seem to have that one. At least I now know how this can be solved! Thank you very much for your help!
  6. I have done this however when i then signed out the name and picture are still on the sign on screen
  7. Hi all, Looking to set up multiple Chromebooks for shared use. I can enrol the devices to the domain no problem however what I don't want is for the Chromebooks to remember the users that previously signed into them. Basically everytime it boots up I want the sign on screen to have a blank Username and Password page everytime, not (For Example;) 'John Smith', and 'Enter Password'. Can this be done at all? Many thanks,
  8. Hi all, Would like to set up a Guest Pass WLAN within our Ruckus Wireless System which I have managed to do successfully, however as we are a school all of our internet goes via a proxy server for filtering etc. I have read a few forums already about the issue where the proxy settings don't automatically get pushed out to devices on the guest network from the Ruckus Zone Director but does anyone have a step by step guide on how to accomplish this as I have seen posts where people have been able to do this but unfortunately it seems to be out of my level of understanding Many thanks for your help,
  9. I've found out how to do this by doing a lot of searching!!!! It is called "Ephemeral Mode" in the Google Admin Console. This does what I was wanting!!!! To get here, go to Device Management > Chrome > Users and it is located under Security.
  10. Don't really want to be forcing incognito as then their histroy etc won't be saved for E-Safety reasons. They do need to be logged into the browser as all of their Educational Apps are listed when they sign into the browser, plus bookmarks etc
  11. Hi all, Trying to change Chrome settings in school so that as soon as pupils close the Chrome Browser it signs them out of Chrome (Not their Google Accounts). I have managed to solve signing them out of their google accounts on closing Chrome however when I then re-open Chrome it still says "signed in as......." on the actual Chrome Browser. Is there a way to automatically sign out of Chrome as soon as it is closed? Many thanks,
  12. that's another good question not too sure I'm afraid I shall have a look into that - if I find it is not allowed shall I allow it and would there be anything else that I need to configure?
  13. I disable my proxy settings anyway, as for the VPN setting that's a good question..... I believe it is a PPTP connection when in school just using the normal Microsoft Windows VPN options etc
  14. Hi all, I am currently trying to set up a VPN connection to the School Curriculum server from home. I have set up the server to allow incoming connections and have also set up my laptop to connect to the correct IP address and also the Admin log in details. It connects fine when I am in the school however as soon as I am at home I get an Error 800. Could this be something to do with the proxy server blocking me out as at home I don't have to have one to connect to the internet whereas at work I do? Many thanks for your help!
  15. ah right ok I shall have a look into this thank you
  16. we are a primary and I have not heard of lesson monitor? what is that exactly?
  17. My head is rather keen for the school to be up to date with technology and to come away from paper registers as she deems them as a bit old fashioned. I agree that they work perfectly fine but by the teachers marking in pupils themselves it takes some workload off of our admin staff as well as they then don't have to type in the marks for the whole school. We are currently trialing it with one of our classes and it is working very well with very little to no errors as admin staff only enter in unauthorised absentees, illnesses or appointments. The only problem that I found with doing it this way is obviously the fire register. I agree that the fire service will probably take no notice and sweep the building regardless just to make sure in the event of a fire but it is school procedure to have a fire register. Didn't mean to cause a full on debate either only wanted to know if anyone had a solution!!!! haha
  18. Hi all, We are looking to get the teachers to be using SIMS themsleves to take the registers in the mornings and afternoons come September. For this they would obviously need their laptops and an internet connection. However, say in the event of a fire or fire drill everyone meets at the assembly point which is outside and there is no internet connection outside so they would not be able to take the registers. Does anyone have an idea of how we can overcome this? Would it simply be a case of printing whos in and whos not daily so that we have a paper copy? Many thanks,
  19. Hi All, Have a slight problem with one of our sahara clevertouch boards. I recently bought a new laptop for class and downloaded the Smart software including smart ink and notebook. All was working fine until I turned it on one day and the 'smart ink' bar (usually by the minimize/maximize buttons in browser) disappeared meaning that I can no longer use my one and only pen to annotate webpages but only write when I have notebook open. Does anyone have an idea as to why this has happened and how I can go about fixing it? Many thanks,
  20. ok thanks guys will give these companies a look, much appreciated.
  21. Hi All, We are currently running an aging RM Server with Win Server 2003 and are looking to replace it. Unfortunately we aren't really sure where to start looking.... can anyone recommend a good company that can provide us with a new Curriculum Server and help with the building of it, data transfers, setting up policies etc but also provide some training and support is we ever need it? All recommendations are welcome!! Many Thanks,
  22. ok thank you I shall look into this and report back my findings
  23. Hi all, Have recently handed out new teacher laptops, 64-bit windows 7 pro, and have had to link them up to all the teachers smartboards without a problem. One of the teachers however has got a Sahara Clevertouch so getting the visual was all good and also interactivity however I cannot for some reason get smart ink to work. He wants to be able to annotate web pages and apps however all the pen/pointer does is touch the screen and highlight objects. Does anyone know why this is? Do I need to update the smart software or download a specific driver for the board? Many thanks,
  24. ok i will have a look at this solition thank you
